For accounting firms
Get paid for what your accounting firm already knows.
Every close, reconciliation and review note your team has produced shows how skilled accounting work actually gets done. AI labs pay for that kind of record. We license selected records on your behalf, keep client information protected and negotiate the best available rate.

01 Why AI labs care
What your records show that AI can’t do yet.
AI systems can recite accounting standards. What they still struggle with is the work itself: chasing a missing statement, figuring out why a balance won't tie, deciding whether an exception matters and documenting the call so a reviewer can sign off. Your firm's records capture exactly that, across many clients and many periods.
What makes accounting firms’ records valuable
- Repeating cycles: the same close and reconciliation steps performed month after month, including the variations that matter
- Preparer and reviewer back-and-forth that shows judgment being applied, questioned and approved
- Connected history: the request in email, the discussion in chat, the entry in the ledger and the deliverable in the client folder
- Years of work across many clients, industries and accounting systems
02 Workflows
The work with the most value.
Buyers look for complete pieces of work, start to finish. In your industry, these are the strongest.
Month-end close
Checklists, bank and card reconciliations, accruals and adjusting entries, plus the notes that explain why each one was made.
Reconciliation exceptions
The items that don't tie: how they were investigated, what support was requested and how each was resolved.
Review notes and sign-off
Reviewer comments, preparer responses and the changes made before work was approved. This is where professional judgment shows.
Client questions and advisory
Owners asking about cash, margins and big decisions, and the analysis your team sent back.
Practice workflow
Work items, due dates, time entries and handoffs from practice management, showing how work moves through the firm.
03 Connected records
One piece of work, followed end to end.
This is what connected history looks like, and why it’s worth more than any single file.
Illustrative exampleInvented details. Not client data.
A month-end exception, followed end to end
- Bank feedA $4,180 deposit can't be matched to any open invoice.
- Team chatThe preparer flags it and asks whether it might be a customer prepayment.
- EmailThe client confirms it's a deposit on a large order shipping next month.
- LedgerThe preparer books it to customer deposits and attaches the email as support.
- Review notesThe reviewer asks for a schedule of open deposits. It's added, and the item is signed off.
Each record on its own is ordinary. Together they show a skilled decision from first question to approval. Names, companies and identifiers are replaced before anything is shared.
04 Privacy and rights
What stays out, and what’s reviewed first.
Every industry has its own sensitive material and its own rules. For accounting firms, these come first.
Always excluded or removed
Before anything is shared, these stay out entirely or are replaced.
- Tax returns and tax return information
- Social Security numbers, EINs and other tax IDs
- Bank statements, and bank and card account numbers
- Payroll records and employee personal information
- Client names and contact details (replaced with consistent stand-ins)
- Passwords, portal logins and one-time codes
Rights reviewed before buyers are approached
Client confidentiality
Professional standards for CPAs restrict disclosing confidential client information without the client's consent, and many engagement letters add their own confidentiality terms. Both shape what can be included and whether consent is needed.
Tax return information
Federal rules (Internal Revenue Code section 7216) limit how tax return preparers use or disclose tax return information. We keep tax return information out of scope entirely.
Financial privacy rules
Tax preparers and many accounting firms are treated as financial institutions under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which limits sharing consumers' nonpublic personal information. It's one more reason personal information is removed or excluded.

06 Questions
Questions from accounting firms.
New to this? Start with our plain-English guide to licensing business data.
Can an accounting firm license client records without client consent?
It depends on your engagement letters, professional rules and the records involved. Some material, like tax return information, stays out entirely. For everything else, rights are reviewed before any buyer is approached, and if consent would be needed, we'll tell you plainly. This isn't legal advice, so your counsel should confirm.
Which accounting records are most valuable?
Recurring close and reconciliation work with the review trail attached: the exceptions, the questions asked, the support gathered and the reviewer's sign-off. Several years of that across many clients is what buyers look for.
Will this pull my team away during busy season?
No. No files or logins are needed to start, and we work around your deadlines. After the first conversation, we coordinate with the labs and bring you in for the decisions that matter: scope, offers and signing.
